iGepir is the iPhone counterpart of the renowned GEPIR web client (www.gepir.ch), simplifying user interaction by eliminating the need to preselect GS1 keys. It presents all available information in a structured manner.

GEPIR, as part of the GS1 network, connects databases of over 1.5 million GS1 member companies across 111 countries. The data sources used in iGepir are reliable, sourced directly from trademark owners, governmental bodies like Swissmedic, and GS1 Member organizations.

Supported Barcodes:

 <li>EAN/UPC Codes (EAN-8, EAN-13, UPC-E, UPC-A): Found on consumer products worldwide</li>
 <li>ITF-14: Common on trade units not directly accessible to consumers</li>
 <li>GS1-128 (EAN/UCC-128): Primarily on trade units and logistics</li>
 <li>GS1 DataMatrix: Predominantly on healthcare products, offering detailed information on expiry dates and batch numbers</li>
 <li>GS1 QR Code: A specialized QR Code version supporting GS1 Standards alongside URL encoding</li>
</ul>

iGepir exclusively reads valid GS1 barcodes due to the ambiguity inherent in proprietary codes. Companies commonly utilize the GS1 identification system in transparent supply chains for this reason. For more information on GS1 Standards, visit http://www.gs1.org.
